I’m putting it down so I can hear In a voice that’s all too clear The troubled words of a troubled mind And meanings only I can find But will I find my way over What I’ve lost now that I’m older Will it haunt me when I see that Things seem to happen At the worst time imagined Like a thief in the night it would bring? Am I really who I’m supposed to be? I’ve taken it all so patiently In another time and another place To be in the crowd another face Who’s trying to find his way over And he tries to be bolder And not be tied to the history That’s made in such moments And now the floodgates are open Will he be hung by the order of things These plans that I’ve made slow me down These mistakes Take time to embrace Each moment we face I’m putting it down so I will know That either it will or else it won’t If these are dreams inside my head Will they wither away until they’re dead? Or will I find my way over Like a wandering soldier Who sees the battle play out And is yearning for freedom From the memories that keep him Will he be fighting the order of things?

Young child These are the days you will sing about Reach out and touch the whole world with your hand Run wild Run with the dreams that you hold inside Open your eyes ‘Cause you just might see them come true Think Every moment like this Will feel like the touch of a kiss The first of many romances you will live But young girl I cannot promise you won’t be hurt For what it’s worth This happens all of the time Some days You may just feel like you’ll throw it away Watch how you play ‘Cause good things will come back to you You will take many a turn Wrong or right With every step you will learn The truth that will set you free or burn you down Now I cannot plan or get in the way As your day turns to night and your night into day Well I have never been aware of someone so beyond compare In all you do I promise you Now I cannot plan or get in the way As your day turns to night and your night into day Well I have never been aware of someone so beyond compare In all you do Yeah I cannot plan or get in the way As your day turns to night and your night into day Well I have never been aware of someone so beyond compare In all you do I promise you

Girl 03:45
I wanted to be myself But now I’ll just make an impression That you cannot turn from or ignore And you will soon learn my intention ‘Cause in the lines of a song I don’t know right from wrong But girl you know you want it And girl I aim to give it to you I’m not gonna bother Telling you what you know is true And girl you know I wanna I just wanna tell you that I want you Now you’ve never sung from your heart And only I see it’s been aching To become a wonderful song The melody stirs now it’s waking Beautiful and pure This is love I’m sure But girl you know you want it And girl I aim to give it to you I’m not gonna bother Telling you what you know is true And girl you know I wanna I just wanna tell you that I want you But girl you know you want it And girl I aim to give it to you I’m not gonna bother Telling you what you know is true And girl you know I wanna I just wanna tell you that I love you Now that I know that you know Show me somewhere we can go Not that you know that I know Just show me something

Settle down child You won’t be leaving soon And settle down your insides Cheap whiskey will do Dear old Dad is putting miles down tonight He might not make it there in time Now I knew a man that I never met He died before I came along to my regret And I met a man I swear that I never knew And he looked just like me too These cemetery walls Have me running through the halls Of every memory I have Pedal down child just like your daddy did Running wild with the imagination of a kid Will it make him proud to know you’re following a dream That only he could see? These cemetery walls Have you running through the halls Of every memory you have Good or bad, these memories remind you of the kind of love you wish you could have had

When the ship comes in Will I be found wanting Knowing they’ll send it out again For those still wandering Slowly turn the page In a book bound for the age Every word a plea Strange days indeed If I could only see The fear with which I’ve been blinded ‘Cause even then you know I could not agree On what the color of sky is Even with myself Much less someone else Might as well be green Strange days And when it comes back for you Will you turn me away like a long lost lover? ‘Cause what you do You know you do unto me like the least of the others If what you do is what you do It’s gonna come back for you Back for you I’ve been thinking of all the ways We can hurt one another Today of all days I can call you my brother I came the way I am And I’m not sorry and nor should you be man I am not in need But still out at sea Strange days indeed

When I was young Eager and dumb I was a pistol and love was a shot from a gun There were hearts to be won Now the phone never rings And my memory sings And you come to my mind and I admit now that I have been stung By what I have done The less you will know The faster you go I stayed in my room On a warm afternoon You asked me to come out and play but I sat by myself Alone on my shelf Argument made I sat in the shade Of self-righteousness that reminds me of love I ain't dealt And I had no one's help The more it will show The faster you go Time keeps ticking on me Will you love me, now that I see? Now is the day So come back my way And make no mistake I will shoot and my aim will be true 'Cause it's always been you Who could set me on fire And be all I desire But now and again my heart needs to skip a beat or two It will always come through I love you more Than I did before The more it will show The faster we go

Alone on a bus It's cold and it's morning And I'm taken from all I've known And you on a flight Crossing the ocean Says you are not coming home The strange thing about love is They say it gets stronger with time I hope I live long enough to see it This day erased from my mind And life carried on You know that it had to No matter how far you'd flown But you left me holding the thought That somehow I caused this Not that you are not coming home Can you meet me in the middle? The tears have dried from my face I hope it hurts just a little Putting you in your place Still I'm on a bus It's cold and it's morning And I'm taken from all I've known But it's black as the night And I'm lost in the ocean Now that you are not coming home No you are not coming home Yeah you are not coming home.
8.
Ten feet deep I never could imagine that it would be Talkin’ cheap Listen to the creature that’s coming over me The game is fixed You would know the feeling living in the sticks Baby’s pulling tricks Playing in the traffic Hoping for a hit My destiny lingers In five tired fingers on each hand
9.
There must have been some kind of magic in the air When you said you would be my love, darling You'd be my sweet baby You'd be my sugar plum for life You know I thought I'd make my living playing this guitar Still I drink all night here in this shitty bar And you sing along like I'm a superstar If I'm the apple of your eye then I could die Then I could If the stars had not aligned where would I be Would I be in your life maybe But in this life I don't think That I would be the same tonight There must be some mistake your beauty wasn't meant for me But I'll take it anyway Until forever and a day we'll make it our own way Until the good Lord has his say and takes me home Until he takes me

The ship is coming in Sailing through the harbor We all know where she’s been They weren’t tranquil waters It comes and end The sailors blame the weather Now I can’t remember when The skies were looking better The crowd is growing thin on the deck of the Pride & Patience The sails have lost their trim with the shore on the horizon A ghost of the years of the miles and seas it’s traveled And I hold back the tears I could lose it and unravel The ship is coming home The tears are mine alone Only knowing what pride and patience knows

Well my Granddad was a hell of a man And he had more kids than he had planned And all his children did just about the same So in the Summertime when the air was fine He'd gather us up and put us all in line And tell us about Dimaggio, Cal, and the Babe And then he started to talk about Doubleday And how the rules they made are still the same today And then he put four bases in the grass And pointing to each and every one He said it's not a game if it ain't fun So remember if the fun is gonna last You gotta get on base Chase And if you can try to steal Bill Look out now the ball is on its way You gotta load 'em up Chuck And try to hit a home run son That is how you play the Baseball game. Now there's two sides to every tale And just because you think you're doing well You have to let the other side take a swing So grab your glove and take the field And pray you brought your nerves of steel 'Cause somewhere in the outfield someone sings "Come on throw 'em a strike Mike!" You gotta give 'em the heat Pete Set 'em down in order 1, 2, 3. And if you don't you make a tag Chad Or try to turn a double play Jay Hear the crowd go wild wait and see! I can't tell you how short them Summers seemed Playing right field on the family team Dreaming away and watching them flowers grow And every now and then a ball would come my way About half the time I would make the play And the other half well you know how it goes... But all the same... You gotta get on base Chase And if you can try to steal Bill Look out now the ball will be on its way You gotta load 'em up Chuck And try to hit a grand slam Sam Yeah, that is how you play the Baseball game You gotta give 'em the heat Pete And strike out the side Sly No matter how you get 'em out it's all the same Look for your ball Paul It takes one swing of the bat Matt To get you in the family hall of fame And that is how you play the Baseball game
